My name is Weiqi Meng!

I'm a filmmaker and multidisciplinary artist from China, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre. I brings a diverse background in performance, visual arts, and storytelling into my filmmaking practice. Deeply influenced by Japanese animation, I have developed a distinct style that blends dark humor with surreal yet emotionally grounded narratives.​

My work often explores themes of loneliness, imagination, and disconnection in the digital age, using absurd comedy and intimate observation as tools for connection. Drawing inspiration from everyday encounters, I transform fragments of real life into layered, character-driven stories.​

Currently, I'm creating a series of short animated projects within an interconnected universe of original characters, experimenting across media—traditional hand-drawn, digital, stop-motion, and mixed forms—while handling every aspect of production myself, from scriptwriting to animation, voice work, and editing. Beyond animation, I'm expanding into live-action and hybrid projects, with the long-term goal of building a unique creative brand and transitioning into feature filmmaking.
